CONHI Donors Make an Impact

Thank you to those that support College of Nursing and Health Innovation scholarships. Your support of students like Sarah makes a big difference in their ability to focus on their education.

My name is Sarah and I want to express my most sincere gratitude for selecting me as the recipient of the ASU Helen G & Michael E. Curry Scholarship. This scholarship will financially assist me as I pursue my Doctor of Nursing Practice degree to become a Family Nurse Practitioner.

I will be starting my second year in the DNP-FNP this Fall 2018. I am now just ending my second semester in the program and am looking to begin my third semester this summer. Working full-time nights as an RN while keeping up with the workload demands of full-time graduate school has proven to be one of the greatest challenges that I have faced in my young life. Often times after working a 12-hour night shift at the hospital, I come home and sleep for only a couple hours before needing to wake up to complete whatever assignment is due next. Thankfully, your generous contribution to my education has given me hope and has allowed the possibility of moving from a full-time job to a part-time job to become reality. I now can focus more closely on my studies which will help tremendously in the upcoming semesters when I will be required to take full-time courses and complete 495 clinical hours in just the Fall and Spring semesters alone.

My passion for nursing has led me to where I am today and my greatest goal upon completion of this program is to make a positive impact in the lives of those I serve. It is hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel at times but it is people like you who help me to see that light. I wish there was a greater way to show my appreciation but for now I can promise to put forth my greatest efforts into succeeding in this program. I look forward to my continued advancements within the nursing profession and thank you again for your generous donation.
